Have you ever noticed your dog having an upset stomach? Not much of an appetite? It’s so difficult when our furbabies aren’t feeling well. If your furbaby has a little digestive upset, there are things you can do to help them.
Ginger - Ginger isn’t just good for humans upset tummies…but dogs can benefit from it as well. Ginger can help with nausea, and even inflammation. There are many ways to give your dog ginger, via capsules or sprinkling powdered ginger in with their food. I would encourage, if you’re using anything other than fresh grated ginger, to make sure you’re using an organic product. We use fresh grated ginger, for Nacho, but have used the ground ginger in our biscuits. https://drmartypets.com/ginger-for-dogs/
Pumpkin – Pumpkin has a lot of fiber and is very good for their digestive system. It can ease an upset tummy or alleviate digestive issue. You have to be careful and not give them too much each day, as too much can make their stool a little loose. Canned pumpkin is fine, but it’s very easy to roast in the oven and make your own puree, then freeze. You just cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, roast at 375 degrees for 40 minutes-hour until it’s fork tender. Make sure to roast it cut-side down. Once it’s roasted, let it cool and then you can scoop out the insides and puree in a blender or just use a masher to mash it like potatoes. Nacho definitely prefers fresh roasted pumpkin, instead of canned….so even our furbabies can tell the difference. https://drmartypets.com/pumpkin-dog-upset-stomach/
